When it comes to choosing the garment enhancement type it is important to consider several factors. First and foremost, the final look of the finishing technique that will give the best results depends on the material composition, surface, weight and its original color (already dyed or raw). These techniques are one that happen on the final stage of the manufacturing process, that being said, this is also the reason why they are called the ‘finishing techniques’.
Choosing the right technique
Most used techniques in our studio; stone wash and pigment dye. We chose to work with heavy weight materials from natural fibres that have textured surface. The continuous possibility of giving the item its final look with mentioned processes is in getting the wide color pallete and impressive depth of the fabric with the washes and dyes.
Stone wash is a textile manufacturing process that gives garments a worn and washed-out appearance while also increasing the softness and flexibility of stiff fabrics like denim and canvas. While pigments are applied to the fabric with binders and locked onto the fabric's surface through ionic attachment instead of embedding into the fibers. Unlike some other dyes, pigments are not soluble in the water and show no affinity for fiber.
Lab dips
Before any process starts, our team discusses about which garment is going to be finished. It always depends on what we are aiming to achieve with the piece - to experiment or to do a traditional technique like stonewash that already know what the end-look will be.
Here we use a lab dip, a process where a few small swatches of fabric or textile trim is dyed in order to determine which formula creates the best color match for that specific material type. Additionally, we have to consider the cost and time constrains of each technique as some of them may be more expensive or time consuming than others.

Our R&D team works closely with leading textile chemistry engineers to ensure that the chosen finishing process for our garments is executed properly and to ensure that everything proceeds according to plan. Once the bulk production arrives in our studio, we make quality assurance of every single garment that was put through the finishing process. This involves checking each garment for any defects or issues, ensuring that the stitching, fit, and finishing details.
